Fans had an incredible time attending Planet Comicon this year!

As the last purchases are made and fans start to exit Bartle Hall, here is a countdown on the six reasons why fans loved attending Planet Comicon 2013.

#6: Bartle Hall

This was a great venue for Planet Comicon.  It allowed the convention to spread out and for the first time in years, many people did not feel guilty bumping into each other.

#5: The bargains

Almost every exhibitor had deals that made every comic book lover jump for joy.  From 50-percent off back issues to $10 off of trade paperbacks, buyers were able to check items off their list and go home happy.

#4: Cosplayers

Many of this year’s Planet Comicon attendees showed off their creativity as they wore several elaborate costumes that ranged from a sexy Poison Ivy and a gender-bending Dr. Who to the witty duo of Captain Jack Sparrow and Barbossa and two brigades of Stormtroopers and Fetts.   They definitely made Planet Comicon a great experience.

#3: The panels

Fans enjoyed attending this year’s panels.  Several highlights included Scott Snyder and Brian Azzarello previewing their upcoming DC Comics storylines, George Takei talking about Star Trek’s philosophy and his upcoming musical, Allegiance plus Walter Jones’ eye-opening and hysterical Q&A session about the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers.   Hopefully, fans will have a chance to experience quality panels in the future.

#2: Artist Alley

Artist Alley was the place to be at Planet Comicon.  Fans got to chat it up with their favorite local and nationally known creators throughout the two-day show.  Several artists also delivered amazing pieces of artwork.  Several highlights included Rick Stasi’s tribute to the Golden Days of DC Comics, Terry Huddelston’s interpretations of characters from DC, Marvel and IDW Publishing and Greg Horn’s superb portfolio.

#1: The people (and author’s note)

I always look forward to Planet Comicon because of the people I have a chance to meet.  From my favorite creators (Rick, Blair, Scott, Patrick G, Jason, Greg, Patrick D and Dennis) and the fans that I met in line to the volunteers that I interacted with this weekend, thank you for making this a memorable weekend.

I hope to see everyone at Planet Comicon 2014!
