Ever since I started CrossFit two years ago, I look to athletes that inspire me to continue my fitness journey.

One athlete that I admire is fitness model and personal trainer Marc Fitt!

His inspirational posts on social media have caught the attention of over 400,000 followers on Instagram and 1,600,000 fans on Facebook.

Outside of the fitness world, he also the fitness columnist for Montreal’s Global TV and the CEO and founder of Beyond Yourself Clothing (BYC). Marc is a massive supporter of Worldwide Orphans and pledged $2 for every piece of BYC merchandise that is bought.

Marc took time out of his busy schedule to the biggest challenges that he faced in his fitness journey and his thoughts on the evolution of social media.

Jacob Elyachar: When did you get interested in the fitness world?

Marc Fitt: I had been an athletic individual growing up, playing hockey for as long as I can remember. I started training in order to improve my performance in the sport. Eventually, I fell in love with fitness, changing my focus from hockey to just working out and sculpting my body. Fitness modeling followed suit. It was the best way to help inspire others to show them that everything is possible.

JE: What were some of the biggest challenges that you faced in your fitness journey? How did you overcome them?

MF: After an injury a while back, I was unable to train my legs for what seemed like an eternity. I had to really hammer at them, in order to get them to catch up to the rest of my physique.

JE: How long does it take you to create you to a routine? What factors help you determine what movement you use in your videos?

MF: It gets easier to do with more experience. I am well versed in many exercises, so all I really have to do is think about what goal I want to achieve with the routine I create, and then build the exercises around that.

JE: Recently, you celebrated the accumulation of gaining over 2,000,000 followers on your social media platforms. As social media continues to evolve, how will you use new networks to expand your influence in the online fitness world?

MF: My goal with the use of social media is always the same — try and inspire as many people as possible. That will continue to be the intention with whatever I use, whether it is Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or whatever the next big thing is!

JE: If you had the chance to meet with a person who is nervous to start (or stuck on) their fitness journey, what advice would you share with them?

MF: My advice to the beginner would be to start! I would also tell the person who is stuck…to keep going! Results come from continuous action. No one ever achieved his or her dream physique by stopping.
