Jake’s Take’s New Music Reviews: Week of October 1, 2021

Artists to Watch:

Jake’s Take’s Artists to Watch is back! Here are some of today’s rising artists in the industry that are looking to take the world by storm.

“Solo” by Matteo Bocelli

After making his debut in the music world with his father three years ago with their impeccable take of A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera’s “Fall On Me,” Matteo Bocelli is taking a step into the spotlight as a solo artist. Produced by Grammy-winning superstar Jesse Shaktin, “Solo” showcases Matteo’s superb voice. He has a solid potential to become an internationally renowned superstar just like his father. A-

“Capsule” by Michael Lazar

Miami-based singer-songwriter Michael Lazar’s “Capsule” begins with a vocal synthesizer. As the song continues onward, “Capsule” showcases Michael’s superb songwriting skills. While I would have liked to hear some piano and guitar, I think Michael has the potential to gain a following in the EDM world. B

“Melodramatic” by Mia Morris

Mia Morris continues to carve her path in the music industry with superb material. She followed up her last single, “We Were Never Friends,” with a power punch named “Melodramatic.” I loved this song from start to finish! B+

“Hollywood (U & Me)” by Sara Diamond

Sara Diamond’s “Hollywood (U & Me)” is a superb dance-pop track that would put a smile on listeners’ faces. The production is terrific, and the song successfully teleported listeners to Los Angeles. Sara has a bright future ahead of her.

“How Deep Is Your Love?” by Sheer Element

So-Cal-based trio Sheer Element is developing a TikTok following thanks to their impeccable cover of Ariana Grande’s “Only 1.” Now, vocalists Izzy Kaye, Jej Vinson, and Tabon Ward are branching out into the music industry. The group recently released their version of the Bee Gees classic: “How Deep Is Your Love?” I was blown away by their outstanding harmonies and their superb arrangement. I cannot wait to see what Sheer Element does next. A+

“MARTIRO” by The Warning

The Warning rounds out this edition of Jake’s Take’s New Music Reviews. Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to attend a virtual studio session for Lava Records and Republic Records’ latest signees. Based in Mexico, this terrific trio of sisters (Daniela, Paulina, and Alejandra Villarreal) are ready to take rock music to the next level. Their latest single, “MARTIRO,” might do that. It was an outstanding song from start to finish, and I cannot wait to hear more!
