Welcome to another exciting edition of New Music Releases!

This week, three old friends of Jake’s Take and three Top 40 favorites have released new material!

Mikey Wax by Mikey Wax

Mikey Wax made his Jake’s Take debut back in December 2011! Since our first interview, the Long Island singer-songwriter has grown artistically and recently signed to Toucan Cove/Universal Music Group. His first self-titled record for the label is a powerful debut. This shows Mikey at his finest as a lyricist, arranger and a vocalist. Listeners will get chills throughout the album and if you only have enough money to purchase a whole album on iTunes, Mikey Wax should be the album. You will not be disappointed! A+

Tracks to Download: “You Lift Me Up,” “Baby Don’t You Let Me Down,” “Hang On,” “Alive in New York City” & “Last Great Song”

Gypsy Heart Side A by Colbie Caillat

One of the biggest surprises this week was the sudden release of Colbie Caillat’s third EP: Gypsy Heart Side A. The five tracks on this EP are pure gold. Each and every track is a sure radio hit. Attention music lovers, I think Ms. Caillat has this summer’s must have EP! A-

Tracks to Download: “Live It Up,” “Blaze,” “Try” & “Never Gonna Let You Down”

Ivan Roudyk and Michael V. Doane's "Looking for Love" is my Song of the Week! (Album cover property of Electrica Records)

Looking For Love” by Ivan Roudyk & Michael V. Doane

Ivan Roudyk is one of Russia’s most popular House producers and DJs. Recently, he teamed up with one of Jake’s Take’s favorite performers, Michael V. Doane, to release a heart-stopping dance track: “Looking for Love.” This track has an irresistible beat that will get into your head. In addition, Michael’s voice blends well with the track! All and all, it is a great up-tempo track to either dance or workout too! A

Hangover” by PSY featuring Snoop Dogg

Despite the heavy hype for PSY’s third international single and a cameo from Snoop Dogg, “Hangover” comes across as a mess and a waste of the listener’s time. The only phrase I have to say about this song is “Horrible Mess” F

Play Among the Stars Simmy

“Play Among the Stars” showcased Simmy at his finest. (Album cover property of Simmy)

Play Among the Stars” by Simmy

I always have a soft spot for music from my good friend and superstar Australian music producer, Simmy. Since I first heard his beats three years ago, I became a massive fan. His latest mix, “Play Among the Stars,” is a gorgeous EDM-track that has shades of David Guetta, Alesso and Calvin Harris sprinkled in the song. I hope that we get to hear a full-length album from him soon. A

Angel in Blue Jeans” by Train

Yesterday, Train released its first single off of its upcoming seventh studio album: Bulletproof Picasso! “Angel in Blue Jeans” is a sturdy lead off track for the next phase in Train’s musical journey. Pat Monahan continues to prove that he is one of the best front men in modern-day pop rock with his superb vocals. Also, the arrangement will leave listeners with smile on their faces anxiously waiting for September 16 (Bulletproof Picasso’s release date). B+

I do not own all of the tracks that are sprinkled in this album. They belong to the artists and their record companies.
