Last summer, 16 people instantly went from obscurity to household names when they walked into the Big Brother 21 house. One of them was petroleum engineer Cliff Hogg. The Houston, Texas native is a lifelong fan of the CBS Reality TV series. However, Cliff Hogg had a rough time in the Big Brother house.

His season’s eventual winner (and alliance member), Jackson Michie, won the Camp Director competition. The Camp Director position gave him the power to banish four houseguests. He dismissed him, Jessica Milagros, Kemi Fakunle, and David Alexander. Just as Cliff Hogg fought his way back into the house, he was once again in danger.

Christie Murphy, the first Head of Household (HOH) of the season, nominated Cliff and Kathryn Dunn for eviction. Thankfully, an early ally, Sam Smith, won Big Brother 21 was able to convince Christie to let him use his Power of Veto on Cliff. As Cliff was sent to safety, Christie nominated his close ally: Ovi Kabir.

While Ovi was unanimously evicted, he was given a life-preserver. Ovi, David Alexander, and the next two eliminated houseguests were placed into the controversial Camp Comeback twist, where they were essentially pariahs while living in the house. Cliff along with close ally and eventual finalist, Nicole Anthony, eventually plotted Ovi’s return to the Big Brother and formed the Fellowship of the Zing.

Sadly, the alliance was targeted thanks to house drama and bullying tactics by the majority alliance (Gr8ful), which were led by the next two HOHs: Jack Matthews and Nick Maccarone. The latter eventually nominated both Nicole and Cliff for eviction. However, Cliff was the final member of the Camp Comeback. As Cliff Hogg won his way back into the house, he did not know about the firestorm that was brewing outside the house. Fans and various media outlets such as Entertainment Weekly and The Oprah Magazine voiced their outrage when they saw David, Ovi, and Kemi on stage with Big Brother host Julie Chen Moonves.

Thankfully, Cliff Hogg won the Week Four HOH and he decided to nominate both Jack and Jackson. It would have been a great plan, too if Jackson did not win Veto and Christie held her Diamond Power of Veto power over his head. While he was unable to get either of his targets out of the house, he and Nicole gained new allies in the forms of Jessica and Kathryn.

Eventually, the game changed in favor of Cliff’s Angels’ direction as the season’s biggest alliance the Six Shooters (Jackson, Jack, Christie, Tommy Bracco, Analyse Talavera, and Holly Allen) broke apart. Cliff’s Angels won round one of the Jury phase of the season when Jessica won HOH and was able to nominate Jack and Jackson.  While the group secured a major victory by eliminating Jack, they were once again back in the underdog status when Tommy won HOH.

Both Nicole and Cliff Hogg regrouped, the latter decided to ally with Jackson and Holly. The quartet was able to make it to the end until Cliff was sent home after two heated weeks of competition.

In this episode of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Cliff Hogg talked about his time in the Big Brother 21 house. He revealed what being nominated for America’s Favorite Houseguest made with him.
