The 2016 County Music Television (CMT) Music Awards is seven days away! This year, The CMT Music Awards has added a brand new category in its line-up: the #SocialSuperstar Award. The award honors country music artists who are pioneering social media as a tool to regularly interact with fans through a multitude of platforms and apps.
Brett Eldredge, Blake Shelton, Jake Owen, Kelsea Ballerini, Lindsay Eli and Thomas Rhett are nominated for this award. Fans can vote for the winner by using Instagram and Twitter. To vote for a particular artist, fans should use the hashtags #CMTawards followed by the artist that they want to want away with the inaugural award: #VoteBrett, #VoteBlake, #VoteJake, #VoteKelsea, #VoteLindsay, and #VoteThomas.
Thanks to the #SocialSuperstar Award, both Blake Shelton and Thomas Rhett are tied with three nominations. Meanwhile, Carrie Underwood, Cam and Chris Stapleton were awarded with two nominations apiece.
Blake Shelton, Brett Eldridge, Cam, Chris Stapleton, Fifth Harmony, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Maren Morris and Thomas Rhett are among the recording artists that are expected to perform at the 2016 CMT Music Awards.
Dancing with the Stars co-host Erin Andrews will return to co-host the ceremony and will host the festivities with Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt.
The 2016 CMT Music Awards will air live from Nashville on Wednesday, June 8 only on CMT.
