Jacob’s Travel: Planet Comicon 2012

If you are heading to Kansas City this weekend, then head to Planet Comicon.   This event happens once a year and gathers the best in comics, science fiction, animation and pop culture.      Adult tickets will be $20 for a whole weekend and $15 for a day pass while children (ages seven to 14-years-old)’s weekend passes are five dollars each.

 

To help you prepare your day, jacobelyacharjournalist.com has prepared you with several show highlights that should you should keep your eye out when you hit the Overland Park International Trade Center this weekend.

 

Star Wars Invasion

 

Attention Star Wars Fanatics!  Planet Comicon is the place to be this weekend as Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Jake Lloyd (Anakin Skywalker), Adrienne Wilkinson (Maris Brood) and a whole army of costumed fans will be here.     However, please bring cash if you want to either receive an autograph from one of the stars or take a picture with them.

 

Superstar Media Guests

 

In addition to all of the Star Wars guests, Planet Comicon 2012 will have other guests from the sci-fi world including veteran actor Edward James Olmos, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century stars Gil Gerard, Erin Gray and Felix Silla, Attack of the Show’s Blair Butler and more.       Also be on the lookout for the Men of Action creators (Ben 10 and Generator Rex) and veteran comic book writers Joe Kelly, Steven T. Seagle and Duncan Rouleau, who will be promoting their shows at the event.

 

Artist’s Alley

 

One of the numerous highlights of the weekend will be the opportunity for comic fans to mingle with some of the best local and national talent in the comic book world.

 

Costume Contest

 

Do you think that you have a great homemade Batman costume?  Try entering the costume contest!  They will have two to three categories for best costume.   The winners will be able to win cash prizes for their impressive outfits.   However, the costume contest will only be on Saturday so plan accordingly.

 

The Panels

 

Ever thought about breaking into comics?  What about learning about the careers of the stars visiting Kansas City?   Or how about learning about the X-Men universe?   Convention guests will be able to find all the answers to these questions if they attend one of the 18 panels that will be happening this weekend.
