Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan

Ten months after Regis Philbin left the morning talk show staple, Live’s remaining co-host Kelly Ripa and crew have finally found another person to join the cast.

Dozens of men and women have sat beside Kelly and have entertained fans through the 60-minute chat fest.

Jacobelyacharjournalist.com has narrowed down a list of potential men and women who might have the opportunity to sit alongside Kelly on a full-time basis starting on September 4, 2012.

Michael Strahan

The former New York Giant is a strong contender to sit alongside the Emmy Winner because of his multiple appearances.   Plus, Strahan represents the world of sports, which could possibly drag some male viewers in to watch the show.   But the Super Bowl champion isn’t the only one that has been as a contender.

Josh Groban

Grammy-nominated singer Josh Groban is among the short list of final candidates that could possibly take over Regis’s chair.    While Ripa and Groban have great chemistry, the singer might have other projects lined up and it might be difficult for Josh to commit to a big contract.

Nick Lachey

Former 98 Degrees member and Sing Off host is a great candidate because of his experience.   He has persevered through the show’s toughest episode: the Halloween episode and his timing with Kelly is great.  However, the trouble with Lachey is that he has a baby on the way and is based in the West Coast.

Kelly Ripa and Seth Meyers

Despite reports that he has taken himself out of the running of becoming “Live’s” new co-host, “SNL” head writer Seth Meyers is a fan-favorite and may be having second thoughts. (Photo by Heidi Gutman/Disney-ABC Domestic TV)

Seth Meyers

Like the first three candidates, Meyers has been a guest co-host for a majority of the 10 months and was also in the running to be Regis’ permanent replacement.  However, CNN’s the Marquee Blog reported on July 11 that Meyers took himself out of the running stating: “No, no, no” on joining the Live team.   Could he have had second thoughts?

Carrie Ann Inaba

Both Kelly and Carrie Ann Inaba had life changing moments on this show.  Before Kelly became a permanent host, psychic Char Margolis correctly predicted that Ripa was pregnant before she told her former All My Children bosses in 2000.  Fast-forward 11 years later when the Dancing with the Stars judge was proposed by her fiancé Jesse Sloan on the show.   Kelly’s pregnancy announcement was a factor that got her a job.   Could Carrie Ann’s engagement play a role in her hiring?

Carson Kressley

The former Queer Eye for the Straight Guy panelist guest hosted the show multiple times when Regis was on vacation or sick and he had fantastic chemistry with Kelly and he really made the show watchable.  However, he may be busy with more Good Morning America and Dancing with the Stars duties, so it might not happen.

Dan Abrams

ABC’s legal eagle could bring the show’s credibility up to a whole new level as Abrams has worked on network shows and covered important stories around the world since the 1990s.     By having a television veteran sitting alongside her, Live will be able to get to 2017 and beyond.

Jerry O’ Connell

Actor Jerry O’ Connell is a frequent guest host on the show and every time that he is on the show, it seems that Kelly is at ease.   The only thing holding O’ Connell back to take this job is his commitments to the new Munsters relaunch 1313 Mockingbird Lane.

Kelly Ripa and Kristin Chenoweth

Kristin Chenoweth

Live with Kelly became a lot more entertaining when they had the Broadway actress co-hosting with Kelly.   Kristin is an incredible firecracker and would add another level of positive energy to the show.

Who do you think will join Kelly permanently at the Live desk? Viewers will find out on September 4!
