Hello True Believers!

Avengers vs. X-Men is over! After 13 issues of drama, betrayals and destruction, the combined might of both teams defeated the Phoenix Force and saved the Earth from destruction.

However, their victory came with multiple consequences for all sides.

Professor Charles Xavier, the X-Men’s founder, was killed by the Phoenix Force and its host: Cyclops (Scott Summers).    While Summers is currently in custody, his fellow co-conspirators: Namor, Colossus, Magik, Magneto and Emma Frost are still on the loose and are considered fugitives.

Another factor was the Sub-Mariner’s destruction of the Kingdom of Wakanda.   His rage left millions dead and lives shattered.   His actions also resulted in the divorce between Black Panther and his wife, longtime X-Men leader Storm.

With the Avengers vs. X-Men events behind them, it is time for both sides to rebuild and rethink their stances are within the Marvel Universe.

The Avengers

Avengers covers Jonathan Hickman

Jonathan Hickman’s “Avengers” will be feature a mixture of classic team members plus unexpected new faces in its line-up. (Covers by Brandon Peterson and property of Marvel Comics)

Expect more teams of the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to develop within the next couple of months.

The first new team that will debut is the Uncanny Avengers.  Fan-favorite creators Rick Remender and John Cassaday’s premiere issue will be released this week and feature a blended line-up of members of both franchises including Captain America, Havok, Rogue, Scarlet Witch, Thor and Wolverine making up the nucleus of the team.   Expect them to face the Red Skull’s legacy in the first couple of issues with more new members that will be added along the way.

Longtime Avengers and New Avengers writer Brian Michael Bendis will wrap up his eight-year run on the titles and will turn the keys over to Jonathan Hickman, who will be expanding the main title’s line-up which will include a mix of classic and current Avengers including Black Widow, Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman and newcomers Cannonball and Sunspot.

Meanwhile, the Illuminati will gather once again in New Avengers and their line-up looks like it will gain a new member in Beast.   It will interesting to see how the characters interact especially Namor and Black Panther, who might be at each other’s throats due to the events spun out of AvX.

The X-Men

All New X-Men

AvX scarred Marvel’s Merry Mutants.

With Professor Xavier dead, Cyclops rotting in a jail cell and Emma Frost, Magneto and Namor on the run, it’s time for Wolverine and several other team members to step up to the plate and continue to help mutantkind.

However, that is not going to be easy especially when the younger versions of the founding members of the X-Men arrive in the present in Bendis and Stuart Immonen’s All New X-Men.

Meanwhile, two new group of X-Force has been assembled.  One group is Cable and X-Force, which creators Dennis Hopeless and Salvador Larroca have put Cable, Domino, Forge, Colossus and Dr. Nemesis on the run from the Uncanny Avengers.   Out of the ashes of the events of the first volume of Uncanny X-Force, Psylocke will return with new team members and two new creators: Sam Humphries and Ron Garney in January 2013 when the title is relaunched.

So what titles are you excited for?  What books are you going to be picking up?
