Last night, the American Idol: Season 12 girls gave some of the most memorable and forgettable performances when they faced the judges (Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj).

After surviving the A cappella lines and a rough Group Round, the remaining 47 girls must sing for their life in this year’s solo round.    Who impressed the judges and delivered incredible performances?  Who fell flat and was sent home?   Read on to find out….

18-year-old Angela Miller kicked things off when she performed her original song: “You Set Me Free.”  It was full of raw emotion and strong vocals that received a standing ovation from all four judges.   The performance left Keith wanting the song to be heard on the radio while Nicki stated that Angela changed her fate with that performance.

There were also strong performances from Season 12 standouts Candice Glover and Janelle Arthur, who delivered powerful covers of Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire” and Carrie Underwood’s “I Told You So” that received praise from the judges.   One of the craziest performances came from Zoanette Johnson, who channeled Sheila E and performed an outrageous original that paid homage to the judges.    All four ladies made it to the next round.

Unfortunately, not everyone made it to the final judgment as Kez Ban, Ashley Feliciano and Briana Oakley ended their Idol journeys.

However, there was not enough time to celebrate as the judges began to make the difficult decisions on which guys and girls will make up this year’s Top 40.     Before the difficult decision, Randy called out several singers to sing for their lives including Stephanie Schimel and Rachel Hale.  However, the judges decided to say goodbye to Stephanie while Rachel joined the Top 20 girls.

Next, it was the 28 guys’ turn to face the judges one final time.  Nicki asked Adam Sanders and Josh Holiday to perform one final time.  While Josh was able to change his fate, Adam Sanders was eliminated with seven other Idol hopefuls.

Next week, The Top 40 head to Las Vegas for the next round of the competition! Tune in to find out, who soars and who sinks on live T.V.
