It is a pleasure to welcome Orlando based band The Crazy Carls to Jake’s Take!

Headlined by Alex Baugh (the group’s singer/songwriter/lead guitarist), The Crazy Carls’ catchy tracks and superb music videos have started to grab music lovers’ attention. Their first outing (and new EP), Owl Tattoo, showcased high-energy tracks that expanded their group’s presence on social media.

Alex took time out of his busy schedule to talk about the challenges that the Crazy Carls face and who he will be touring with this fall!

Jacob Elyachar: Could you please share the Crazy Carls’ origin story with my readers?

Alex Baugh: The guitar speaks for me. I love the energy, playing music live and I started The Crazy Carls, when I was a student at UCF (University of Central Florida). Carl was our first bassist, so we kept the name in his honor. Live performance is a passion for our band and we give the max for our show.

JE: How does your songwriting and artistry stand out in the overcrowded music industry?

AB: My songs tell personal stories, so I write them myself. Our band likes to have fun with the music and we want our fans to have a good time. I like to sing falsetto and I like to keep the lyrics real. We are always seeking new sounds and won’t give in to formula.

JE: What are some of the challenges that today’s bands face? How are the Crazy Carls prepared to overcome them?

AB: It is so hard today to get recognized for your music. Everyone wants to hear a story and it doesn’t matter if it is real. The fans want to get to know you, but it’s hard to get noticed. We hope to make things happen with original music and high-energy performance.

JE: How has social media helped your musical career so far?

AB: Social media is a requirement just to get started. Our music videos help us because we keep them entertaining and creative. Social media has helped showcase the band’s positive energy and individual style.

JE: What is the next chapter in the Crazy Carls’ musical journey?

AB: We are supporting Aaron Carter in his comeback tour this fall. We are traveling to Texas to showcase our dance music to new fans. We are hoping to break out on the national scene in 2015!
