The Albums I Can’t Wait For: Fall 2011 Edition

2011 has been hit-or-miss with music.

Artists like Adele, Britney, Beyoncé, Jennifer(s) Hudson and Lopez, Jay-Z & Kanye West threw down the gauntlet to all other artists putting out albums during the latter half of this year.

There are several artists that I believe are going to deliver and go above and beyond the call of duty to release quality music.

Lady Antebellum-Own the Night (September 13, 2011)

Next week, Grammy-winning country band Lady Antebellum returns to the music scene with their third studio album: Own the Night.  The band co-wrote 10 out of 12 songs and released two singles including “We Owned the Night,” “Just A Kiss,” and “Wanted You More,” which are #106, #28 and #10 respectfully on iTunes’ top songs.

Tony Bennett & Various Artists- Duets II (September 20, 2011)

The legendary singer is celebrating his 85th birthday this year and he will celebrate it by releasing a second duets album.   Bennett has recorded songs with legendary singers including Aretha Franklin and Willie Nelson and superstars including Mariah Carey, Josh Groban, Carrie Underwood and the late Amy Winehouse.    I already purchased “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore” featuring Bennett and Michael Buble and if this single means anything, it means that we are going to be in for a real treat.

Kelly Clarkson-Stronger (October 24, 2011)

The original American Idol winner is back on the scene and is ready to rock as Clarkson releases her fifth studio album.  Clarkson recently released the album’s first single: “Mr. Know It All,” a guitar driven song written by Brian Kennedy, Ester Dean, Brett James and Dante Jones.   Clarkson has also stated in an interview with EW.com that legendary rockers Prince and Tina Turner influence her new album.

Coldplay-Mylo Xyloto (October 25, 2011)

A day after Clarkson releases her album; she will face competition from English alternative rock band Coldplay, who also releases their fifth studio album.   For a preview of this album, fans can look to extended play Every Teardrop is a Waterfall, where the EP features the title single and “Major Minus.”  In a story featured on Billboard.com, Coldplay guitarist Jonny Buckland stated that the band wanted to cut loose which included “louder drums, louder guitar and more contrast.”
