Last week, America was introduced to Rising Star and its wall.

Using the power of the show’s app, audiences across the nation voted to create superstars.

Tonight, a new batch of performers took the stage and hoped for their shot to superstardom!

Who was successful in raising the wall? Read on to find out…

Up first to face the wall was 30-year-old Shameia Crawford. The Atlanta, Georgia native is a preacher’s daughter and background singer! She stepped into the spotlight and tackled fun. and Janelle Monae’s “We Are Young.” While it started monotone, her vocals shined and the latter half of the song rocked. Unfortunately, it was too late as Shameia was eliminated from the contest. B-

The next performer to take the stage was April Lockhart. She made it through to the next round of competition with the Spice Girls’ “Say You’ll Be There.” She received an 85-perecent and moved on to the next round (Due to the inconvenience of KMBC-TV ABC 9 News’s tornado coverage, I could not give a letter grade for April’s and the following performances).

Austin French: “Georgia On My Mind” (87-percent of the vote; sent through to the next round)

Triniti: “Problem” (30-percent of the vote; eliminated)

Alice J. Lee: “You & I” (73-percent of the vote; advanced to the next round)

Rye Davis: “When You Say Nothing At All” (46-percent of the vote; eliminated)

Hopefully, “Rising Star” will re-air this episode for the Midwest later this week.  I hope to recap the final round of auditions next week. Jake’s Take’s thoughts and prayers go out to my fellow Midwesterners!
