I hope everyone had a great time with his or her dads on Father’s Day.  Now this post-Father’s Day edition of New Music Tuesday will provide you a soundtrack for the longest day in the year: the Summer Solstice, which will happen tomorrow.   In this edition, I will review the latest studio albums from Justin Beiber, Fiona Apple and Vicci Martinez and the hottest singles from Maroon 5 and Flo Rida.

Believe by Justin Bieber

In just five years, Justin Bieber has evolved from unknown to world superstar.  His Beliebers are everywhere and will do anything to see him live in concert.   For his third studio album, Bieber co-wrote a majority of the songs that are featured in this album with a little help from superstar producers and songwriters including Max Martin, Darkchild, Savan Kotecha and the Messengers.    Justin also collaborated with some of the finest rappers in the business including Ludacris, Nicki Minaj and Drake.

This author has a feeling that many of Justin’s fans will burn their MP3 players after listening to this album multiple times.   He continues to grow as an artist, vocalist and a songwriter and Believe might be another jewel that he will add to his Prince of Pop crown.      B+

Songs to Download: “All Around the World,” “Take You,” “Beauty and a Beat,” “Boyfriend” and “Believe.”

The Idler Wheel-Fiona Apple

Fiona Apple took her time to record her fourth studio album: The Idler Wheel…This album has both rough and smooth vocals that will appease her fans and music lovers.    The Idler Wheel perfectly shows off Apple’s ability to connect to her fans and music lovers with her interesting lyrics that shows off the entire emotional spectrum.     However, the big issue that I encountered while listening to the album that you could get bored by several of the songs.      If you are a Fiona fan, then you will enjoy listening to this album but if you are not a fan or a hard-core music lover than this album is not for you.  B-

Songs to Download: “Every Single Night,” Anything We Want,” “Left Alone” and “Valentine.”

Vicci-Vicci Martinez

One of the standouts from the first season of The Voice was Vicci Martinez.  The alternative rocker delivered strong performances week after week and she won a place in the show’s first Final Four.   While despite taking home fourth place, Vicci worked hard to create her first studio album for Universal Republic.    This album is a joy to listen to because of the great ear candy and there is a lot of variety that is showcased throughout the album from the different music genres to seeing Vicci’s full vocal range.     Vicci is one of the strongest debut albums that I have heard this year and I hope that Vicci’s fans will rally behind her and support her latest album. Songs to Download: “Come Along,” “I Want Your Kiss,” “Let Go,” “Touch the Fire” and “Stop Pretending.”

Vicci returned to The Voice and debuted “Come Along” with her mentor.  Click here to watch the performance: http://youtu.be/2Ps3sTouyK0

One More Night-Maroon 5

While we are talking about The Voice, I am going to talk about coach Adam Levine and his band-Maroon 5’s latest single: “One More Night.”  Levine, Max Martin, Shellback and Savan Kotecha wrote this incredible track which perfect blends pop and funk music together.   So far the band is two-for-two on their singles and it sounds like Overexposed will be one of Maroon 5’s best albums ever.  Grade: A

Let It Roll- Flo Rida

Oh look mom! Flo Rida released another dance/rap song! Many of the rapper’s fans are slowly losing their patience with Flo as “Let It Roll” continues to sound the same as “Club Can’t Handle Me,” “Where Them Girls At” and “Goin’ In.”   What happened to the R.O.O.T.S. Flo who collaborated with Nelly Furtado and Timbaland?   He needs to find a happy medium between Dance and Rap songs or Flo Rida might lose a lot of his fans.  Grade: C

I do not own any of the clips that were used in my article.  They belong to the artists and their respective record companies.
