Welcome back to another edition of New Music Tuesday!

This week, I will be reviewing David Archuleta’s fifth studio album: Begin and the latest from new American Idol judge Mariah Carey, Melissa Etheridge, Taio Cruz, and the collaboration between 50 Cent, Dr. Dre and Alicia Keys.

Begin by David Archuleta: This is the fifth studio album released by the 2008 American Idol runner-up.  Begin is a cover album and fans will be excited to hear his takes on several popular songs including Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful,” Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and U2’s “Pride (In the Name of Love).”    David’s voice is one of the best in his generation and Begin shows that every song that he touches turns to gold.   Grade: A-

Songs to Download: “Beautiful,” “Somewhere Only We Know,” “Angel,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “Pride (In the Name of Love).”

Triumphant (Get ‘Em) by Mariah Carey: “Triumphant (Get ‘Em)” is the first single off of the R&B superstar’s upcoming fourteenth studio album.   This song is definitely inspiring and it shows that Mariah still has both her classic vocal chops and great songwriting ability.    Also, look out for Rick Ross and Meek Mill’s cameos throughout the song.    If “Triumphant (Get ‘Em)” is any indication, Carey’s upcoming album will be a monstrous success.  Grade: A

Falling Up by Melissa Etheridge: Melissa will be releasing her fourteenth studio album: 4th Street Feeling.  Her first single off of the album is an upbeat song called “Falling Up.”   This song is very catchy plus it also shows off Etheridge’s raw voice and the lyrics are impressive.   Grade: A+

Melissa debuted this song at a concert in Auckland, New Zealand.  Click here to watch the performance: http://youtu.be/nPg9uPzrnxs

Fast Car by Taio Cruz: Taio Cruz’s latest single comes off of his latest album: TY.O.  “Fast Car” represents the best blend between R&B and dance music.    This song will be a huge hit in dance clubs across the United States and it also adds another songwriting hit under Taio Cruz, Usher and Max Martin’s belts as they co-wrote this superb smash.   Grade: B+

New Day by 50 Cent with Dr. Dre & Alicia Keys: What happens when you combine three Grammy winners on an R&B and Rap track?  You get “New Day,” which is an impressive track that feature massive raps from 50 Cent and strong cameos from Rap veteran Dr. Dre and the always-soulful Alicia Keys.    This is one of the strongest Rap tracks of the year.   Grade: A
