Jake’s Take’s New Music Reviews: Week of April 10, 2020

Artists to Watch:

Jake’s Take’s Artists to Watch is back! Here are a few artists that I believe could shake up the music industry.

Alaina Castillo’s “Just a Boy” showcases her potential to be one of 2020’s top breakout artists. (Music video property of Chosen Records)

“Just a Boy” by Alaina Castillo

Alaina Castillo is taking the music industry by storm. Both Spotify and Teen Vogue have highlighted this Houston native turned Los Angeles transplant, who is gaining a massive social media following. With her regular collaborator, Romans, Alaina co-penned and released her latest single: “Just a Boy.” Backed by a guitar, Alaina sang about recent ex-love interest. Alaina’s vocals are pure to listen to, and I believe she will be one of 2020’s breakout artists. A+

“Easy Love” by Kid Froopy

Des Moines native Kid Froopy released his third single off of his upcoming debut album, Silver Silver. “Easy Love” immediately caught my ear thanks to its welcoming combination of Bossa Nova and synth-pop. I think that Kid Froopy does have a shot in succeeding in the music industry as he presented solid lyrics and showcased a unique arrangement style. A-

“Monroe” by Nadia Vaeh

Atlanta native Nadia Vaeh is celebrating female empowerment with her latest song: “Monroe.” Nadia brilliantly namedropped a plethora of iconic women who are at the heart and crux of pop culture. However, more importantly, she revealed the crucial lessons she learned from Celine Dion and Jane Fonda to Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. “Monroe” has the potential to be on several streaming playlists, and hopefully, it will find its way to pop radio stations across the country. Noah Dillon paid tribute to Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey in his latest single. (Music property of Noah Dillon)

“Matthew McConaughey” by Noah Dillon

Australian rocker Noah Dillion rounds out this edition of Jake’s Take’s New Music Reviews. He paid tribute to celebrated actor Matthew McConaughey in an alt-rock jam. In his music video, the rocker perfectly channeled the actor’s famous roles, including Dazed & Confused’s David Wooderson, The Wolf of Wall Street’s Mark Hanna, and Interstellar’s Joseph Cooper. The guitar licks and vocals are superb, and I believe that this track has the potential to be the 2020s’ “Bette Davis Eyes.” B+
