Welcome to the latest edition of New Music Releases!

Here is my take on new material from several old favorites and a new artist that will shake up the music world!

Sia 1000 Forms of Fear album cover

Sia does not disappoint with her sixth studio album! (Album artwork property of Monkey Puzzle & RCA Records)

1000 Forms of Fear by Sia

Sia’s sixth studio album (and first American release) features some undiscovered gems from the “Titanium” singer. Ms. Furler showcased her solid vocals and superb arrangements. I still believe that Ms. Furler is our generation’s Carole King and I hope that she continues to soar as a solo artist! B+

Tracks to Download: “Chandelier,” “Big Girls Cry,” “Straight for the Knife” & “Free the Animal”

Beautiful Goodbye by Richard Marx

From the late 80s to the mid-2000s, Richard Marx released powerful material whether it was his own songs or penned tracks that he wrote for Luther Vandross, *NSYNC and Barbra Streisand. What makes Mr. Marx’s album, my “Album of the Week” is that he connects with the listener on EVERY TRACK, which is something, you rarely hear on an album in this generation. A+

Tracks to Download: “Whatever We Started,” “Suddenly,” “Beautiful Goodbye,” “Forget to Remember” & “Turn Off The Night”

Jacob Whitesides 3AM the EP

Jacob Whitesides’ first EP will be a delight to the listener’s ears. (Album cover property of Jacob Whitesides)

3 AM the EP by Jacob Whitesides

Jacob Whitesides is a name you need to remember! Knoxville’s Boy Wonder released his first EP and it is 100-percent musical gold! He has a solid voice and would be very radio friendly. I am glad that I stumbled upon this EP. A-

Tracks to Download: “All of Me,” “Hey There Delilah, “Stay With Me” & “This”

Dirt” by Florida Georgia Line

Over the past two years, Florida Georgia Line’s brilliant blend of country and Hip-Hop has gained a giant fan base. However, up until now, Florida Georgia Line has had problems with slow-tempo ballad-like tracks. “Dirt” is a lovely track that would make its listeners think about their grand and great-grandparents. Hopefully, this hot streak will lead into a new album! B+

Ariana Grande Zedd Break Free

Ariana Grande & Zedd “Break Free” of the barriers of both pop and EDM to deliver a candidate for the title of “2014’s Song of Summer.” (Album cover property of Republic Records)

Break Free” by Ariana Grande feat. Zedd

Ariana Grande and Zedd make a terrific tag team. The marriage between Ms. Grande’s heavenly vocals and the Russian-German producer’s heavy EDM beats would definitely challenge several previously released tracks as “Song of the Summer.” Great job, Ariana and Zedd! A-

Tough Love” by Jessie Ware

Jake’s Take’s Song of the Week belongs to UK songbird Jessie Ware! Her first single off of her upcoming sophomore studio album is the perfect homage to 80s pop and soul. If listeners close their eyes while listening to this song, they would be able to follow a couple on their love-hate relationship. A+

I do not own any of the clips that are featured in this review. They are properties of the artists and their respective record labels!
