Welcome to another exciting edition of New Music Releases!

This week, I dove into debut albums from fan-favorite Reality TV alums and new singles from some old favorites!

Candice Glover Music Speaks

Candice Glover scores a touchdown in her post-“American Idol” debut album. (Album cover property of 19 Recordings & Interscope Records)

Music Speaks by Candice Glover

Idol’s reigning queen does not disappoint on her debut album.  Her velvet vocals are impeccable pieces of ear candy and the Music Speaks production team of Mike Will Made-It, Rock City and the Underdogs sprinkled a diverse selection of beats that range from up-tempo R&B-infused club music to Latin Jazz.  I hope we get to hear more from Ms. Glover in the future.  A-

Tracks to Download: “Cried,” “Die Without You,” “Thank You,” “Love Song” & “I Am Beautiful”

Voices by Phantogram

Greenwich, New York alternative rockers Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel have released their sophomore studio album: Voices.  Phantogram has one of the most unique sounds in the music industry.  However, at times, some listeners might be polarized by some of their trip hop-psych pop tracks.  Other than that, it is a sturdy album that will help Phantogram gain its footing.  B

Tracks to Download: “Noting But Trouble,” “Fall In Love” & “The Day You Died”

Midas Whale Sugar House

If there is a folk album that you need to add to your library, it should be Midas Whale’s “Sugar House!” (Album cover property of Midas Whale)

Sugar House by Midas Whale

Midas Whale will go down in Voice history as “the duo that got away.” I am so happy and relieved that they put out an album! Their lyrics are superb, harmonies are excellent and their arrangements are out of this world.  I hope that Midas Whale records another album soon. A

Tracks to Download: “Pacific Way,” “Bright and Early,” “What Might Be,” “Rise & Shine” & “Howling at the Moon

You’re Mine (Eternal)” by Mariah Carey

Recently, Mariah Carey released her third single off of her highly anticipated studio album: The Art of Letting Go. With shades of “We Belong Together” and “Touch My Body,” “You’re Mine (Eternal)” is one of her better singles that features strong production from Mariah and her longtime collaborator, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. Plus, it also shows why the five-time Grammy winner still has one of the best voices in the industry.  A+

Drink Drank Drunk Cowboy Troy

Cowboy Troy recruited pals Big & Rich and Big Smo for his first single off of his fifth studio album. (Album cover courtesy of Warner Bros. Nashville)

Drink Drank Drunk” by Cowboy Troy feat. Big & Rich & Big Smo

“Drink Drank Drunk” perfectly merges three music worlds: country, EDM and hip-hop music.  This song is the perfect tune for your fraternity and sorority parties or country bars all over the United States.  It will definitely make the listener smile. B

I do not own any of the clips that are featured in this article. They belong to the artists and their respective record labels.
