Welcome back to another edition of New Music Releases!

This week, it is all about the singles.

Omen” by Disclosure & Sam Smith

Brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence are slowly becoming the toast of the music industry! They have worked and produced for the best of the industry including London Grammer, Lorde, Mary J. Blige and their friend…. 2015 Best New Artist Grammy winner Sam Smith. For their latest collaboration, the Lawrence Brothers took Sam’s velvet vocals and transported it into a slick club track that would make its listeners dance in their seats. I am looking forward to hearing more of Disclosure’s work on September 25, where they will drop their latest album: Caracal! A-

Saturday Night Gave Me Sunday Morning” by Bon Jovi

I just realized that Bon Jovi’s upcoming 13th studio album, Burning Bridges, would be the very first album without founding member Richie Sambora! As Bon Jovi enters an intriguing new era, they released their latest tune: “Saturday Night Gave Me Sunday Morning.” In a July 17 interview with Austrian radio station Radio O3 Hitradio, Jon stated that the song was a hold over from their 2009 The Circle sessions. I am glad that Jon saved this special song for the album, because it will remind both longtime Bon Jovi fans and music aficionados of the band’s core values and sound. Great job, guys! B+

Tim McGraw Top of the World

Tim McGraw is on “Top of the World” as his latest single is a vocal home run. (Album cover property of McGraw Music)

“Top of the World” by Tim McGraw

No matter what happens in today’s country music scene, fans know that they can always count on Tim McGraw to deliver strong material. Mr. McGraw’s latest single, “Top of the World,” features McGraw’s sturdy vocals and a nice combination of banjos, electric guitars and a superb drum track that provides the musical background for this single. I really hope that Mr. McGraw releases more material like this and whenever you are ready to drop your latest studio album…we will be waiting! B

“When I Stop Dreaming” by Don Henley & Dolly Parton

So far, Don Henley’s Cass County might be shaping up to be one of country music’s best albums of 2015. Mr. Henley’s latest single: “When I Stop Dreaming” is a duet between the Eagles founder and one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all-time: Dolly Parton! Their vocals beautifully blend together and they instantly transport the listener to their recording session in the Smokey Mountains. I think that it would be difficult for the listener not to get chills while listening to this lovely composition! Congratulations, Don & Dolly! “When I Stop Dreaming” is my Song of the Week! A+

Rita Brown & Chris Brown's collaboration, "Body On Me," might be considered to be a strong candidate for the "Song of the Summer." (Album cover property of Roc Nation)

Body On Me” by Rita Ora & Chris Brown

This song might be the biggest surprise hit of the summer! I could not stop thinking that “Body On Me” might be the grown-up sequel of “No Air,” Chris Brown’s 2007 duet with Jordin Sparks. The X Factor UK judge delivers strong vocals and really lets the listener visualize her as the ultimate siren. Meanwhile, Chris Brown brilliantly showcased the softer side of his vocals that would satisfy a lot of fans. I have a feeling that Demi Lovato, The Mowgli’s and Walk the Moon have some steep competition for the “Song of the Summer of 2015.” A-

Lowlife” by That Poppy

Rounding out this edition of New Music Releases is That Poppy! Last month, the latest Island Records phenom took The Five Question Challenge and since then, the Nashville singer continues to blossom right before our eyes. “Lowlife” is an extremely catchy punk rock-reggae tune that would immediately make listeners smile. I think That Poppy is going to have a strong hit with this tune and I hope radio stations across the country play this track ASAP. A

I do not own the clips that are featured in this edition of “New Music Releases.” They belong to the artists and their record labels!
