Saturday Night Live superstar Kenan Thompson visited longtime friend and The Masked Singer host Nick Cannon on this episode. The All That revival’s executive producer joined Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke, and Jenny McCarthy at the Judges’ Desk this evening.
However, none of the remaining masked performers were laughing as two of them would leave the competition! Who are the last three Masked Singers standing? Were Kenan Thompson and the panel able to correctly deduce the singers’ identity? Read on to find out!
The Peacock went first tonight. He sang Calvin Harris and Ne-Yo’s ”Let’s Go,” it was an interesting song choice for him. While he got the audience on their feet, I thought that I heard a little auto-tune in his voice. Kenan Thompson stated that the Peacock “destroyed it.” Meanwhile, Jenny declared the Peacock one of the finalists. The Peacock told the audience that he dedicated himself to show business. The panel guessed “Weird Al” Yankovic, Neil Patrick Harris, and Donny Osmond (Jenny is still on the money) was under the Peacock Mask.
The Monster became a player in this competition and hoped that the Masked Singer would be the beginning of his comeback. He performed a moving cover of Sam Smith’s “Stay with Me” that made the panelists emotional. Kenan Thompson called the performance “good singing” and made both Jenny and Nicole cry. The Monster revealed that he was a “father, husband, son, brother, and more than anything a person.” The panel guessed that either Jamie Foxx, Calvin Harris, Darius Rucker, and CeeLo Green was under the mask.
The Lion has delivered impeccable performances throughout the competition. The powerful singer mentioned that she is not the child of her famous parents. The Lion tackled Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t You Worry About a Thing,” which was a surprising song choice coming from left field. The Lioness revealed that she was an advocate and a sister. The panel guessed that either Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Fergie, and Carnie Wilson were under the mask.
The psychotic Rabbit is one of the show’s most versatile performers. He revealed that he spent time in the great outdoors when he is not performing. The Rabbit sang “My Girl” for his semifinals performance, and it was spectacular! Unfortunately, Nicole revealed that it was not his best performance. The panel guessed that the Rabbit was either Donnie Wahlberg, Nick Lachey (Kenan Thompson’s guess), Joey Fatone (Nicole is on the money), and Kevin Richardson.
The show’s Grand Dame closed the performance portion of the evening. The Bee cooked a peach cobbler and revealed that she has a Grammy-winning performance. Tonight, she sang Aretha’s version of “Natural Woman,” that made me cry. Kenan Thompson declared that the Bee was Gladys Knight (he is right on the nose), but the rest of the panel thought that the Bee Mask performer was either Patti LaBelle or Anita Baker.
After the panel and the audience voting, the first celebrity to unmask was The Lion! The panel’s final guesses were Kelly Rowland (Jenny McCarthy and Kenan Thompson), Hailee Steinfeld (Nicole Scherzinger), Dawn Robinson (Ken Jeong), and Michelle Williams (Robin Thicke). It turned out that the Lion was Rumer Willis! The second celebrity to unmask was The Rabbit! The panel’s final guesses were Nick Lachey (Kenan Thompson), Kevin Richardson (Ken Jeong), Joey Fatone (Robin Thicke and Nicole Scherzinger), and Donnie Wahlberg (Jenny McCarthy). It turned out that Robin and Nicole were right, the Rabbit was Joey Fatone!
