Jake’s Take’s New Music Reviews: Week of January 8, 2021

Artists to Watch

Welcome to the first Jake’s Take’s Artists to Watch edition of 2021! We have a plethora of recording artists that might have a chance of making noise in the music industry!

Another Sky’s Music for Winter Vol.1 EP showcases superb music. (Album cover property of Fiction Records)

Music For Winter Vol. I-EP by Another Sky

Several media outlets such as DIY, Earmilk, and NME have raved about the up-and-coming band Another Sky. Lyricist and vocalist Catrin Vincent, guitarist Jack Gilbert, bassist Naomi Le Dune, and drummer Max Doohan make up the band. Music For Winter, Volume 1 features a collection of six haunting songs that perfectly line up to the winter season’s dark side. Gilbert and Le Dune’s guitar work will transfix the listener throughout the extended play. I was also impressed with Catrin’s vocals, which has shades of Brittany Howard and Christine McVie. Another Sky can succeed in the recording industry, and hopefully, they release quality material in the future. B+

Tracks to Download: “Pieces,” “Sun Seeker,” “Leaving the Lighthouse,” & “It Keeps Coming.”

Joseph Allen’s Footprints showcases his potential to become a household name. (Album cover property of Attempt Impossible)

Footprints by Joseph Allen

Singer-rapper Joseph Allen’s life was changed in 2019 when Howie Mandel pressed the Golden Buzzer for him during America’s Got Talent: Season 14. During the 2020 holiday season, The Challenge competitor dropped his latest full-length studio album: Footprints. As I listened to the album, Joseph reminded me of listening to Drake and The Weeknd when they were at their respective Nothing Was the Same and Beauty Beneath the Madness eras. Footprints showcase that Joseph Allen has what it takes to become a household name. Let’s hope a music industry VIP has the chance to listen to his record! A-

Tracks to Download: “Pay the Price,” “The One I Couldn’t Be,” “Chemistry,” “Secret Formula,” & “Footprint.”

“LocoAmor” by Analise Hoveyda

If there is one artist you need to keep your eye on, it might be Analise Hoveyda. The 17-year-old singer has the potential to become one of 2021’s breakout star. Her potential breakthrough single: “LocoArmor,” could dominate both the Pop Latino radio and streaming charts. I am looking forward to hearing her next single. A-

“Landslide” by Natalie Nicole Gilbert

Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter concludes the first edition of Jake’s Take’s New Music Reviews. On her recent album, Warm Winter, Natalie Nicole Gilbert covered one of my all-time favorite Fleetwood Mac songs: “Landslide.” Longtime Fleetwood Mac fans would be delighted with Natalie’s cover as it showcases vulnerability and a strong piano and string section. I believe that Ms. Nicks would be thrilled with this cover as well. B+
