Happy #NewMusicFriday everyone! We got a lot of new music to unpack, so let’s get this party started!

Dylan Dunlap’s ‘Stranger in My Head’ EP showcases why he is one of his generation’s top musicians. (Album cover property of Dylan Dunlap Music)

Stranger in My Head – EP by Dylan Dunlap

Jake’s Take friend Dylan Dunlap released his latest extended play: Stranger in My Head. Once again, the “Follow My Echo” singer-songwriter does an impeccable job of crafting these honest songs. Starting with “Serotonin,” Dylan takes listeners on his journey in a dreamlike world filled with tracks that hit like gut punches. I am very proud of Dylan’s growth as a songwriter and a musician, and I look forward to seeing what he does next. A-

Tracks to Download: “Serotonin,” “Same Side,” “Talk to You,” “Get More Rest,” & “Savior Self.”

Jennifer Lopez & Maluma star in the romantic dramedy: Marry Me. (Album cover property of Sony Music Entertainment)

Marry Me (soundtrack)  by Jennifer Lopez & Maluma

Jennifer Lopez dropped her first album in eight years! The “On the Floor” singer teamed up with rising Columbian superstar Maluma to record their soundtrack for their romantic musical dramedy Marry Me. The former World of Dance judge appears on most of the soundtrack as she recorded six solo songs, three duets with Maluma, and a remix with EDM duo TELYKast. The Marry Me soundtrack features an all-star group of collaborators such as DallasK, Elena Rose, Michael Pollack, Ryan Ogren, and the Monsterz and the Strangerz production team. Marry Me does feature strong tracks, including radio and streaming-made hits such as “Marry Me,” “Love of My Life (Marry Me),” and “On My Way (Marry Me) [TELYKast Remix].” For their first full soundtrack, I thought that the “Let’s Get Loud” singer and the “HP” rapper, I thought it was superb. B

Tracks to Download: “Marry Me,” “Pa Ti (For You),” “Love of My Life (Marry Me),” & “On My Way (Marry Me) [TELYKast Remix].”

“If You Ever Change Your Mind” by Calum Scott

Britain’s Got Talent alum Calum Scott released his first single of 2022. “If You Ever Change My Mind” is a beautiful track from start to finish. Calum’s haunting voice will give listeners chills. This track can be placed in the Top 40 and be featured in countless streaming playlists. A-

“Big Dreams and Faded Jeans” by Dolly Parton

Next month, the Queen of Country Music will release her 48th solo studio album! Dolly Parton’Run, Rose, Run is a companion album for the novel of the same name that she co-wrote with James Patterson. The record’s first single is “Big Dreams and Faded Jeans.” The song reminds me a little of her Oscar-nominated song “Travelin’ Thru.” Like almost every Dolly song, “Big Dreams and Faded Jeans’” personality shines through and will put a smile on the listeners’ faces.

“Do We Have a Problem?” by Nicki Minaj featuring Lil Baby

Nicki Minaj is preparing to drop her fifth studio album sometime this year. The first single is “Do We Have a Problem?” a collaboration with Hip-hop and trap music superstar Lil Baby. As always, the “Anaconda” rapper delivers fiery verses that will rally the Barbz. Meanwhile, Lil Baby held his own and showcases why he caught the attention of the Recording Academy and BET. With the help of producer Papi Yerr, “Do We Have a Problem?” does have the potential to be one of 2022’s top collaborations. B+
