Welcome to the latest edition of Jake’s Take’s New Music Reviews! We got a lot of music to unpack, so let’s get this party started!

“F!FTY” by Ajay Friese

Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast friend Ajay Friese dropped a new single: “F!FTY.” The “light a match… then run” singer-songwriter brilliantly weaved an autobiographical story into a beautiful journeyman song with a catchy chorus and superb production from Grammy-nominated producer Vinny Vyas. “F!FTY” is a terrific song that shows Ajay’s growth as a musician and recording artist.

“Give Her That” by Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood released a new single! The American Idol champion, who will return to open NBC’s Sunday Night Football for the eleventh season, will drop a deluxe edition of her 2022 album Denim & Rhinestones. The song “Give Her That” is expected to be a part of it. Carrie co-wrote it with David Garcia, who has played an essential part in her renaissance, and Lydia Vaughn. “Give Her That” has a beautiful guitar backing and superb lyrics. This song should have been initially part of the album. A-

“White Horse” by Chris Stapleton

Since the release of his 2015 studio album, Traveller, Chris Stapleton has become one of country music’s premier singer-songwriters and must-see performers. The “Broken Halos” performer will release his fifth album, Higher, on November 10. The first single, “White Horse,” is a powerful way to usher in this new era. The country rock song showcases fine musicianship and the upper register of Chris Stapleton’s husky voice. “White Horse” could be a top contender for several media outlets’ favorite songs of 2023, and I cannot wait for him to see Chris Stapleton perform this song live. A+

“Always Gonna Be” by Dan + Shay

Dan + Shay released their latest single off their upcoming fifth studio album, Bigger Houses. “Always Gonna Be” showcases the duo blending country and bluegrass in one song that will leave fans smiling after listening. B+

“Have a Good Time” by Darius Rucker

Darius Rucker is paying homage to his mother, Carolyn, in his upcoming eighth studio album: Carolyn’s Boy. “Have a Good Time” is a good song and will uplift listeners’ spirits, but the question is, will “Have a Good Time” be memorable in five years? B-

“Artificial” by Daughtry

Earlier this month, Daughtry began a new chapter with their new record label: Big Machine Records. Fronted by legendary American Idol alum Chris Daughtry, the band released a new single: “Artificial.” The new song marks the first time in band history that Daughtry leaned towards metal rock. Also, the lyrics perfectly match the threat artificial intelligence presents to society. “Artificial” is a solid start to Daughtry’s new era.

“Nothing” by Sheer Element

Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast friends Sheer Element dropped another new track! Izzy Kaye, Tabon Ward, and Jej Vinson make up the vocal trio. Their latest offering, “Nothing,” is a fantastic R&B track that reminds me of the MTV 2000s era. As usual, all three vocalists shine on their solos, and their harmonies are perfection! A+
