I had an incredible opportunity to visit Smoothie King as Kansas City is testing its latest innovation, SK Refreshers, a line of caffeinated fresh fruit across the Kansas City area.

Smoothie King Refreshers are made with whole fruits, including pineapple, fresh strawberries, natural juice, antioxidants from Vitamins A and E, and no artificial flavors. The Refreshers are Smoothie King’s first-ever beverage served over ice. They are shaken to order and contain 60mg of caffeine in a 20oz serving

The SK Refreshers are made up of four different drinks available in 12oz, 20oz, and 32oz.

Pineapple Mango and Strawberry Guava:

I had the opportunity to sample the Strawberry Guava first and the Pineapple Mango. Both SK Refreshers were light and refreshing, which satisfied my taste buds. These drinks will be perfect for the upcoming spring and summer seasons.

Pineapple Mango and Strawberry Guava Lemonade:

Smoothie King has two additional flavors – Pineapple Mango Lemonade and Strawberry Guava Lemonade. When I drank the Strawberry Guava Lemonade, a power punch of sweetness hit my tastebuds. Meanwhile, the Pineapple Mango Lemonade was tangy and lighter than its colleague.

Smoothie Bowls

In addition to the SK Refreshers, Smoothie King also offers a bowl version. There are two different bases: an acai base and a pitaya base. A pitaya is very similar to a dragon fruit. There are eight offerings, but the most popular bowls are the PB Swizzle and Hive Five.

The PB Swizzle is my new favorite food friend! It is an Acai base that contains granola, sliced banana, diced strawberries, blueberries, and peanut butter. Meanwhile, the Hive Five could be an item for customers who have adventurous appetites. The pitaya base smoothie bowl comes with a papaya juice blend, turbinado (which Food Network Kitchen describes as “a raw sugar that still contains some of its natural molasses, giving its brown-blond color”), fresh strawberries, fresh mangos, coconut flakes, Goji berries, fresh bananas, and honey.

While Kansas City customers will have the first crack at the SK Refreshers, Baton Rouge, Louisiana fans are expected to taste these new food items soon.
