Jake’s Take: The October 2017 Marvel Comics Solicitations

Marvel Legacy will be in full swing come October.

Many titles from the House of Ideas catalog are about to return to their original numbering, setting the stage for familiar characters to make their comebacks in October. Jake’s Take has narrowed down the stories that you need to keep an eye on during Halloween, and I promise you, my faithful readers, I expect these stories will be real treats and not awful tricks!

Make Mine Mark Bagley & Robbie Thompson

Several of the Marvel Legacy titles will have three-page primers from the creative team of writer Robbie Thompson and veteran Marvel artist Mark Bagley. These three-page stories will remind readers of the history of the title and will set the stage for upcoming story arcs for the end of 2017 and beyond!

Amazing Spider Man presents “The Fall of Parker.”  

It was bound to happen sooner or later, but after six years of being on top of the world, Peter Parker is back to square one! As the march to Amazing Spider-Man #800 builds, find out what happened to everyone’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, the fate of Parker Industries, and why is Peter Parker back at the Daily Bugle? Also, the creative team of writer Dan Slott and artist Stuart Immonen will introduce new characters and villains into Peter Parker’s life in these two issues. Loyal Spidey fans can pick up the first two chapters of this new story arc on October 11 (Amazing Spider-Man #789) and October 25 (Amazing Spider-Man #790).

Return to Planet Hulk

Amadeus Cho, the Totally Awesome Hulk, is about to blast off into outer space! His destination…the alien planet known as Sakaar. To many long time Incredible Hulk fans, this location tested the Bruce Banner Hulk to his limits. What mysteries will Amadeus Cho uncover on this planet? Can he keep his emotions in check? Find out when “Planet Hulk” writer Greg Pak joins artist Greg Land for this new story arc. The shuttle leaves Earth on October 18, when Incredible Hulk #709 is scheduled to drop in stores.

X-Men: Gold & X-Men: Blue go “Mojo Worldwide.”

For the first time since ResurrXion, both X-Men teams will team-up! Together, they are hoping to stop their legendary adversary: Mojo! However, the wicked Mojoverse ruler is about to unleash several ghosts from their past including Sentinels, the Brood, Apocalypse, and Dark Phoenix on the two teams. Will Kitty Pryde and Jean Grey rally their teams past their bad memories?  X-Men fans can pick up X-Men: Gold issues numbers 13 (October 4) and 14 (October 18) to read one and three of this storyline, while they can grab X-Men: Blue issues numbers 13 (October 11) and 14 (October 25) for part two and part four of this story.

Deadpool versus Old Man Logan

The Merc with the Mouth has been facing off against his fellow mutants. First, Cable, and now Deadpool has set his sight on Old Man Logan! When the elderly superhero refuses to let Deadpool join him on his quest to find a newly discovered omega-level mutant, Deadpool decides to capture this new mutant. Writer Declan Shalvey and artist Mike Henderson set the stage for part one of this epic six-part showdown, which is expected to drop on October 18.

Royals on Fire

It is not easy being a member of the Inhuman Royal Family. Medusa is slowly dying, Black Bolt is trapped in outer space, and Marvel Boy might be ready to betray the team in the future. If that is not enough, the Progenitors enter the picture. Who are these mysterious creatures and did they help create both the Inhuman and Kree alien races? Royals writer Al Ewing and artist Javier Rodriguez might have the answers the team has been searching for when issue nine drops October 4.

Guardians of the Galaxy gets a new member

On a lighter note, the Guardians of the Galaxy are expected to get a new teammate when they return to Earth in the pages of All-New Guardians of the Galaxy number 12. What will be their reaction when they learn about the events of Secret Empire? Who will the team turn to when they need to pick up bigger tools for their latest escapade? But most important, which Marvel hero or villain will join the team? Find out on October 18 when the creative team of writer Gerry Duggan and guest artist Rod Reis reveal the latest Guardian.
