Calling all DC Comics fans! You do not want to miss the February 2017 comics that will be hitting the shelves.

Jake’s Take is previewing some of the “Must Read” books of the month!

Welcome back, Wildstorm!

Iconic comic book creator Warren Ellis is back at the House That Superman Built! He is also returning several familiar characters: Grifter, Voodoo, the Engineer, and Jenny Sparks to the DCU in the new ongoing series: The Wild Storm. Joining Ellis on this new venture is Jon Davis-Hunt, who will provide both the art and cover for the title. Also, keep an eye out for a variant cover from Wildstorm Universe creator Jim Lee. Wild Storm’s premiere issue is expected to hit stores on February 15.

Batman reignites the Justice League of America

In the aftermath of Justice League vs. Suicide Squad, the Caped Crusader has quit the Justice League and recruited a team composed of heroes and villains to protect the Earth. The Atom, Black Canary, the Ray, Vixen, Killer Frost, and Lobo will join Batman as the newest incarnation of the Justice League of America. Writer Steve Orlando (Midnighter and Supergirl) along with all-star art team Ivan Reis and Joe Prado (Aquaman, Blackest Night, and Justice League) will kick-start the team with a February 8 Rebirth one-shot and the brand new first issue debuting February 22.

Super Sons finally debut!

Want to see Batman and Superman’s Sons finally team up? Fans of Robin (Damian Wayne) and Superboy (Jon Kent) will finally get to see their favorite kids team up in the pages of Super Sons. Written by Peter J. Tomasi (Batman & Robin and Superman/Wonder Woman) featuring artwork from rising DC star Jorge Jimenez (Earth-2), the duo will have to work together to stop a new villain who is looking to terrorize the planet. Super Sons are scheduled to drop February 15.

Detective Comics hits a milestone

Detective Comics’ 950th issue will be published on February 8! All eyes will be on Cassandra Cain as Orphan steps into the spotlight, while Azrael returns to the streets of Gotham!  In addition, readers will learn about the upcoming threat that Batman and his team will be facing: The League of Shadows. An all-star group of artists are expected to join series writer James Tynion IV and cover artists Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira for this milestone issue.

Titans return to the Big Apple

Way before DC Rebirth and Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Titans operated out of New York City.  Titans’ eighth issue finds the sextet back in New York City after recovering from Abra Kadabra’s assault. Meanwhile, longtime allies Mal and Karen Duncan, are faced with a life-altering decision. Creative team Dan Abnett (Aquaman), Brett Booth, and Norm Rapmund continue their incredible story arc on February 8.

Lord Zedd debuts in Justice League/Power Rangers

The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers adversary will rear his ugly head as Angel Grove’s colorful champions must work together with the Justice League to get back to their home dimension. Writer Tom Taylor and artist Stephen Byrne are scheduled to bring the second part of this DC Comics/BOOM! Comics crossover to life on February 8.

Velma goes missing in Scooby Apocalypse

Velma Dinkley has gone missing! The co-creator of Scooby: Apocalypse’s nightmarish atmosphere has lost her way and the gang needs to find her! If they are unsuccessful, a certain monstrous puppy might get his paws on her. Co-writers (and comic book legends) Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis and artist Howard Porter’s tenth issue is scheduled to drop on February 8.
