Jake’s Take Podcast – Jennifer Silva Redmond

By: Jacob Elyachar, jakes-take.com

It is a pleasure to welcome author and freelance editor Jennifer Silva Redmond as my latest guest on The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.

Her essays, articles, and fiction have been published in numerous anthologies and magazines, and on sites such as Brevity. She is on the staff of Southern California Writers Conference and San Diego Writers, Ink and was the prose editor of A Year in Ink: Volume Three and the co-founder of the critically acclaimed Sea of Cortez Review. Jennifer is the current Editor-at-Large of Sunbelt Publications.

On September 19, 2023, Jennifer will release her memoir: Honeymoon at Sea. The memoir focuses on the honeymoon with her husband, Russel Redmond, where the duo sailed to Mexico. The honeymoon tested their relationship, not just through rocky waters and unexpected weather, but in the ways that living on a twenty-six-foot sailboat makes one reconsider what’s truly important.

On their first voyage, the couple sailed Watchfire to Baja’s Sea of Cortez, where they spent a year before sailing south along Mexico, Central America, and through the Panama Canal. Jennifer’s unique experience on the boat weaves back and forth through time as she explores the events that led her to taking the first step onto the boat – from her children to the time she spent as a struggling actor in New York City.

In this edition of The Jakes Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Jennifer Silva Redmond opened up on several themes that readers will see expect to encounter as they read the book including having healthy communication on the boat, the cost of living, and the learning curve of operating a sailboat and doing every job.
