Jacob’s Halloween Villains Countdown: The Six Best Once Upon A Time Villains

By: Jacob Elyachar

Warning! Spoilers are ahead!

ABC’s fairy tale drama gets the Halloween Villains Countdown treatment as I reveal the six most dangerous villains that are a huge threat to the citizens of Storybrooke and the Enchanted Forest’s survivors.

Captain Hook Once Upon A Time

While he just made his first appearance on the show, Colin O’Donoghue’s Captain Hook has already been bumped to series regular for the second season. (Photo property of ABC Studios and Kitsis/Horowitz Productions)

6. Captain Hook (Portrayed by Colin O’Donoghue)

The latest villain that invaded the show is the one and only Captain Hook.  His crimes include terrorizing the seven seas and stealing wives from families including from Rumpelstiltskin before he became the Dark One.    After losing his hand and lover to Mr. Gold in the Enchanted Forest, Hook will not stop at nothing for revenge even teaming with Regina’s scheming mother Cora to further his goals.

Before he received his Hook, the vile Captain intimidated a cowardly Rumpelstiltskin before the latter received the Dark One’s powers: http://youtu.be/5PhsTJBc7sM

5. King George (Portrayed by Alan Dale)

If you thought your father-in-law was a nightmare, then wait until you meet King George.  Prince Charming’s cold-hearted and greedy adoptive father was one of the Enchanted Forest’s most dangerous men.   His crimes include threats to burn down Charming’s home and poisoning Snow White (which she was cured of).  Now that the show revealed that King George is alive in Storybrooke, who knows what revenge schemes he has in mind for his adoptive son and great-grandson.

One of King George’s most fiendish moments during the second season was poisoning Snow White.  To watch this scene again, click here: http://youtu.be/a1Rw8xkFoK8

4. Maleficent (Portrayed by Kristin Bauer van Straten)

While she was only seen in two episodes, Maleficent was extremely memorable for her snarky catfight with Regina in the second episode of the first season and faced two generations of the Charming Family in her dragon form in the season finale.   Viewers saw Emma “kill” Maleficent during the finale but now that Rumpel brought magic back to Storybrooke, it will be interesting to see how the show’s creators bring her back.

Maleficent fight with Regina was one of the most talked about moments from the show’s first season.  To re-visit the catfight, click here: http://youtu.be/32I6pNR0RIU

Cora Barbara Hershey Once Upon A Time

A majority of “Once Upon A Time” fans think Cora is the mother of all evil as she was the primary reason for driving her daughter Regina to the Dark Side. (Photo property of ABC Studios and Kitsis/Horowitz Productions)

3. Cora (Portrayed by Barbara Hershey)

Cora is the woman who drove Regina to the dark side.  Unsatisfied with her daughter’s position in life and her romantic interest with their stable boy, Cora orchestrated the events that brought a young Snow White and her late father into their lives and hoped that Regina would willingly change and accept her role as Snow’s stepmother and the Queen of the Enchanted Forest.  When Snow blabbed to Cora that Regina was still in love with Daniel, Cora killed the boy and Regina vowed vengeance on both her mother and Snow White for taking away her happy ending.

One of Cora’s despicable acts still remains killing Regina’s true love, Daniel.  To see this tragic scene, click here: http://youtu.be/JEhj0M1nlQU

2. Rumpelstiltskin/Mr. Gold (Portrayed by Robert Carlyle)

The man who would become the Dark One was just a simple village man with one annoying title: “The Town Coward.”  He received that title due to his stance on fighting in the Ogre Wars that made him the least liked man in the village and his own wife abandoned him.   However, when he found out about the Dark One, Rumpel received the power to ruin lives and made himself a menace to not only the Enchanted Forest but to Storybrooke as well as he owns all of the town thanks to a deal he made with Regina.

1. Queen Regina/Mayor Regina Mills (Portrayed by Lana Parrilla)

Regina’s path to the road of darkness began when her mother killed her true love all because Snow White broke a promise to her.  Since then, Regina plotted revenge against Snow White and her family.  Her acts of vengeance included enacting a curse that transported the residents of the Enchanted Forest to our world and gave them amnesia that lasted for 28 years.  In addition, she divided families, framed Mary Margaret for murder and killed her lackeys.    All of these actions make Regina the most dangerous villain on Once Upon A Time.

Regina’s most heinous crimes were  “killing” Snow White (http://youtu.be/O25AucV2R98) and crushing Sheriff Graham’s heart, which killed the show’s beloved piece of eye candy. (http://youtu.be/b75UxUBRG-4).
