Country rocker Drew Six unleashed his latest project in front of a packed house at the Kill Devil Club in Kansas City’s Power and Light District.

Over 300 of Drew Six’s friends, family and fans squeezed into PNL’s jazz club to hear the KC Metro fan-favorite artist deliver an impeccable set that not only introduced them to his band, The Soul Plain Drifters, but his new single: “The Bull.”

While Drew and the Soul Plain Drifters were preparing to take the stage, entertainment journalist and WDAF-TV FOX 4 Film Critic Shawn Edwards shared his admiration for the singer-songwriter and their past exclusively with Jake’s Take.

“Back in the day, the Power and Light District used to do an event called Rock the Runway,” said Edwards. “I used to host the show and Drew and his band would provide the music.”

Edwards also added that the bond between the men developed over the next couple of shows and he was impressed with the country rocker’s creativity.

Throughout the entire hour that Drew and the Soul Plain Drifters performed, he showcased several gems from his catalog by implementing the VH1 Storytellers concept.

As Drew charted the course of the night, the rocker shared his deep personal ties throughout each song. Some of the tracks such as “Angels Have Wings” and “Learn to Let Go” dealt with heartbreak, while the sassy and spunky “Your Boyfriend” was an impeccable toe-tapper that brought several people out to the dance floor.

A personal highlight for me was when Drew sang one of my favorite songs: “We Choose Livin’.” When I first heard Drew perform the song acoustically at a solo event benefiting the Kansas City chapter of the Variety Children’s Charity, I was awestruck by the power of the lyrics and the beautiful melodies. This was the first time I heard Drew perform track live with the Soul Plain Drifters and it gave the audience goose bumps.

The night accumulated with the highly anticipated debut of “The Bull.” This latest single focuses entirely on the point-of-view of a mechanical bull. Drew’s fellow remix collaborators, Grace Maher (of Grace Maher and the Wayward Sons) and D-Major PiCa$o, assisted Drew and the band with their respective sultry vocals and superb freestyle skills, which brought the house down!

“I am 100-percent proud of what he did tonight,” Edwards said. “My man is not only going to hit the ‘Big Time,’ but most importantly…he is a terrific dude.”

Jake’s Take wants to extend a huge and hearty “Congratulations” to Drew and the Soul Plain Drifters for putting on an impeccable show and I strongly believe you should download “The Bull,” when it is released.
