A Fantabulous Celebration of Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn was at the center of the DC Universe’s celebration. The one-time Joker sidekick and love interest was celebrated at the DC Universe’s event. All throughout NYCC, fans were able to celebrate the character through a pop-up gallery called The Fantabulous Evolution of One Harley Quinn Gallery. Fans were able to see several props from the upcoming Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) film.  The props included several Harley Grenades, black and red roller skates, and fur-covered knuckles. Fans will see Harley (Margot Robie) use them when the film hits theatres on February 7, 2020.

Also, Harley Quinn fans were able to see countless pieces of artwork. The artwork included her developmental sketch from Batman: the Animated Series, an animated cel from “Joker’s Favor,” and several comic book covers.  Fan-favorite artists such as Amanda Conner, Bruce Timm, Rachel Dobson, and DC Comics’ Co-Publisher Jim Lee provided the artwork.

Enter DCYou Unscripted

As the DC Universe streaming service enters its new chapter, fans will have the chance to become a massive voice on the platform.  With the help of Ideas United, DC Universe revealed its newest contest: DCYou Unscripted. The contest will allow fans for the opportunity to submit and launch their own unscripted series.

“Since the launch of this service just over a year ago, we have established a community that has far exceeded our ambitions. We’ve hosted unforgettable member events: creating places and spaces where fans could have a voice. We’re working to take a whole new level in our second year by giving our fans an opportunity to submit their own concepts for an unscripted show that will potentially become a series on DC Universe next year,” said Sam Ades, DC Universe Senior Vice President and General Manager in a statement to Jake’s Take.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that triumphant applicants would be flown to Los Angeles for a once in the lifetime opportunity. Several media aficionados will mentor the Top 10 applicants before facing entertainment executives to pitch their ideas. With the help of Ideas United, the final three will create their pilot episodes, and the winner will launch their program exclusively on DC Universe.

Coming Soon to DC Universe

DC Universe will bring fans new content to devour over the next year. Blue Ribbon Content and Warner Bros. Television will produce a mixed media series called BizarroTV. This new anthology series will highlight several characters including Ambush Bug, the Creeper, Space Cabbie, and Detective Slam Bradley. BizarroTV is expected to debut in 2020.

Also, WB Home Entertainment announced that three more animated films will join the DC Universe library. Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, Superman: Red Son, and Justice League Dark: Apokolips will premiere on the streaming service in 2020. All three titles would be available on DC Universe 90 days after its physical release.

Finally, DC Universe members will be celebrated with Community Week. Several creators, actors, and animators are expected to take part in special events that include Q&As, live Watch-alongs, and book club discussions. Titans actress Anna Diop (Starfire) is scheduled to be the first celebrity that will interact with the fans.
