Sony Pictures Television (SPT) announced a new chapter in the daytime television world. In Fall 2020, Daphne Oz, Vanessa Williams, Gail Simmons, and Jamika Pessoa will headline a one-hour syndicated talk show called The Good Dish.

The Good Dish spins out of a prevalent segment from The Dr. Oz Show. In a press release obtained by Jake’s Take, SPT President of First Run Television, John Weiser, noted that “The Dish on Oz” was well received by viewers. After testing the segment out for two years, SPT will bring Oz, Williams, Simmons, and Pessoa to TV stations across the country.

The Good Dish marks Ms. Oz’s return to daytime television since leaving the defunct ABC lifestyle talk show, The Chew, in 2017. While she was on the ABC series, Ms. Oz won the Daytime Emmy® Award for Outstanding Informative Talk Show Host.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Vanessa, Gail, and Jamika to offer viewers a uniqueperspective on how to tell our stories and share our traditions through the recipes that make usfeel at home,” said Oz in the press release.

Four-time Emmy® nominee Vanessa Williams entertained television audiences through her portrayals of Wilhelmina Slater (Ugly Betty), Renee Perry (Desperate Housewives), and Maxine Robinson (Daytime Divas). However, The Good Dish will allow the stage and screen actress to showcase her passion for cooking with viewers.

“Our hope is to fill The Good Dish with inspiration, expert opinions, and daily delicious fun with friends that will bring everyone to the table,” said Williams in a statement to The Wrap.

Gail Simmons and Jamika Pessoa round out The Good Dish’s on-air talent team. Both ladies are familiar faces to culinary television fans as Ms. Simmons plays an intricate role in the Top Chef franchise. Meanwhile, Ms. Pessoa made her debut on Food Network Star’s fifth season. She shared her passion for Caribbean and southern comfort food through her appearances on Good Morning America, Guy’s Grocery Games, and The Wendy Williams Show.

The Good Dish is the brainchild of five-time Daytime Emmy® winning executive producers Amy Chiaro and Stacy Rader. Both women oversee The Dr. Oz Show and ZoCo Productions, Dr. Oz’s production company. As of this report, no premiere date has been announced.
