By: Jacob Elyachar

This weekend marks the second edition of Dancefestopia!

Over 60 acts will participate in this two-day music festival!

Here are several of the acts that you definitely should keep your eyes out for during this year’s event:

RJD2:  For 20 years, RJD2’s five albums and four EPs have spawned 17 singles including “Rain” and “Let the Good Times Roll.”  He will be spinning his tunes today at 4:30 p.m. on Dancefestopia’s main stage.

GRiZ: The 21-year-old Detroit DJ is a rising artist that specializes in mixing classic songs including The Who’s “Behind Blue Eyes” while creating his intriguing beats.  He is currently on a nationwide tour with stops in Los Angeles, Nashville and Minneapolis and will electrify the crowd tonight starting at 9:20 p.m. on Dancefestopia’s main stage.

Porter Robinson: The Chapel Hill, North Carolina-based DJ has a growing fanbase on social media that range from 432,900 likes on Facebook, 266,599 followers on Twitter and 61,000 subscribers on Twitter.   Porter Robinson will be taking the stage at Midnight tonight and hopefully concertgoers will be able to hear either “Unison,” “Language” or “Vandalism.”

The Strive Dancefestopia

The Strive: My friends, the Strive, will be kicking off the Saturday Dancefestopia festivities bright and early at 10:30 a.m.   The Strive’s sound will definitely wake up any campers who are at the Berkley Riverfront Park.  Before you catch their set, listen to “Bury Me Under,” “The Way It Goes” and “Patience,” these songs are perfect to get familiar with their sound.

Kutt Calhoun: Kansas City rap icon Kutt Calhoun will take the Dancefestopia stage for a sure-to-be explosive set. With a huge following on social media, four studio albums and two EPs, the “Bunk Rock Bitch” rapper will definitely be one of the highlights of the Saturday edition.   Kutt will take the stage at 12:30 p.m.

Mac Miller: The rising rapper-producer will be hitting the Dancefestopia main stage around 9:30 p.m.  So far, it has been a busy year for the Philadelphia native as she collaborated with Ariana Grande on her hit single: “The Way” and recently announced that he will join Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz on a European tour in October.

Wiz Khalifa: Last year’s headliner is back with a vengeance! He will perform right after good pal Mac Miller.   The last time Kansas City saw Wiz, he recently released his fourth studio album: O.N.I.F.C. and nominated for both a Billboard Award and a Grammy.   This year, the “Black & Yellow” rapper has another studio album that will be released and two collaborative albums with Snoop Lion and Taylor Gang that will be released later on this year.   Wiz will take the Dancefestopia once again at 10:50 p.m.

In addition to all the fun on the main stage, check out Dancefestopia’s second stage as more artists and DJs will be performing!

Also, make sure that you say “Hello” to my friend, Steve Serrano, who will be this year’s official emcee and the entire Mix 93.3 crew who will be spinning the latest hits at the special Dancefestopia VIP area.
