It is a pleasure to welcome singer-songwriter Blake English to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.

Lady Gaga, Marilyn Manson, and the late David Bowie heavily influenced the Athens, Georgia native turned Los Angeles transplant. Besides these legendary performing artists, Blake English’s sound is heavily influenced by the cinematic horror universe. Case in point, he had a spider crawl out of his body in the “Sad Girls Dance Party” music video. The music video also received a nomination for “Best Song” in the 2020 Berlin Music Video Awards.

In addition to releasing music, Blake English has a passion for directing music videos for other recording artists. Leland, Miss Benny, and She and the Bandit have trusted Blake’s directorial vision to bring their vision to life. Blake also headlined for several events for Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation and danced on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Blake also performed at the South by Southwest Music Festival and was featured on School’d, a spin-off of the popular ABC comedy The Goldbergs. He also had the honor of sharing the stage with his mentor: Amanda Palmer. In this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Blake English opened up about his debut EP: Spiders Make Great Poets, his decision to insert horror into the “Sad Girls Dance Party” music video, and revealed his dream collaborators.
