August is a very important month in the Jake’s Take calendar!

This month is when I started my blogging endeavors.

For those readers are new to the joyride known as Jake’s Take, I will give you a quick origin story….

After I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in May 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree of broadcast journalism, I returned home to Kansas City to apply for jobs. Unfortunately, I graduated during the height of the Great Recession…where there were extremely limited jobs in the media industry; while looking for work, I decided to start blogging to showcase my views on the entertainment industry.

I decided to not follow in the infamous footsteps of Harvey Levin or Perez Hilton, but bring a more investigate approach to entertainment news. Through both my very first blog: jacobelyacharjournalist.com and Jake’s Take, I was able to introduce you, the readers, to impeccable people.

Whether it was interviewing music legends Lee Greenwood, Gordon Lightfoot and Dolly Parton; Top 40 favorites American Authors and Pentatonix; Emmy-nominated choreographers Chelsie Hightower and Travis Wall and countless alumni from America’s Got Talent, American Idol, Britain’s Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance and The Voice, I always made sure to make Jake’s Take a place for intriguing voices from the performing arts world to give their take on the entertainment industry. I want to thank each and every act for taking time out of their busy schedules to share their experiences with my readers.

Since the inception of my blogging adventure, fitness has played a crucial role in my life. While CrossFit (I love you, CrossFit 913) has helped me get into shape, my interviews with some of the most recognizable names in fitness such as Jamie “GrenadeJay” Alderton, Olympus Iron’s Bob Arcand, Jaco de Bruyn, Scott Herman, WBFF World Champions Micah & Diana Lacerte and fit2fat2fit’s Drew Manning that have taught me to never give up on anything such as my dreams or my fitness journey.

Over the past couple of years, I have met incredible mentors who helped me grow as a blogger, reporter and social media guru. Without the support of Drew, Micah, Diana, Scott, Josh Skinner, Kent Speakman, Rick Stasi, Julie Cortes, Diane Schmidt, Shawn Edwards, Rob Low, Tess Koppelman, Anne Trujillo, Marc Stewart, Christine Chang, Amanda Kost, Don Champion, Jace Larson, Will Ripley. Dave O’Brien, Steve Serrano, Lisa Gutierrez, Jason Scott and James Timothy White, I would not be the media professional that I am today!

Also, I would not be in this position without the support of three very important people! My parents, Gloria and Matthew Elyachar, and my brother, Aaron, always encouraged me to follow my dreams and help me evolve as a writer!

Finally, I want to say a massive “Thank You” to you…my faithful readers! Your support on social media and visits to my blog always make me smile! I hope that you continue to join me on this incredible journey!

All the best!

Jacob
