Tonight is the night that Kansas City has been waiting for 29 years!

The Kansas City Royals will take on the San Francisco Giants in Game One of the World Series at Kauffman Stadium.

For many millennials and members of the digital generation, this is the first time we will see the Kansas City Royals in the glory that the World Series produces.

As I wrote this article, I thought of the years I spent as a Royals fan feeling embarrassed that our team was the laughing stock to both Major League Baseball and hardcore baseball fans.

I was frustrated and angry with team management when they could not keep phenomenal players such as Carlos Beltran, Johnny Damon, Jermaine Dye and Zack Greinke, who have gone on to have incredible careers. But with in time, I have come to admire Billy Butler, Lorenzo Cain, Jeremy Guthrie and Salvador Perez, who have brought this team to baseball’s ultimate dance.

My brother, Aaron, always stated every year that the Royals would make it to the World Series. His comments would always receive an eye roll from me and a sarcastic “Yeah right!” from my dad, Matthew. Well, tonight…both Aaron and my dad will be at Kauffman Stadium as part of the thousands cheering on the boys in blue on!

Jake’s Take wants to wish the Kansas City Royals the best of luck with these games and hopes that they finally break the 29-year-old drought and bring the World Championship trophy back to Kansas City!

Go Royals!
