It is week three of The Masked Singer’s sophomore season. Tonight, the final four masks had the chance to keep their identities secret.  However, one of them would be the unlucky celebrity who would join Egg (Johnny Weir), Ice Cream (Ninja) and Panda (Laila Ali) in the elimination club. Tonight, one more unlucky celebrity joined the club, while the remaining three joined the Top 12.

Who was forced to unmask in front of The Masked Singer panel (Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke, and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg) and the studio audience? Read on to find out!

After Nick Cannon’s signature flamboyant entrance and talking with the Masked Singer panel, it was time to get started. The first battle of the evening was the Flower versus the Eagle. In the Flower’s pre-performance package, she revealed that she had done everything from cooking and crafting and told that she was a legend. She sang Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5,” and I immediately thought of Patti LaBelle when she let loose! The Flower left Jenny “speechless,” and Nicole called her voice: “legendary.” The panel thought of Mariah Carey, Taraji P. Henson, Patti LaBelle, Jessie J, and Bjork.

The Flower’s competitor, the Eagle, took the stage. He revealed that he could have been a teacher, faced a health scare, and lost a parent. He teased that he cannot only hang out with rock stars, but it is one. He sang Meat Loaf’s “I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That.” Like the Masked Singer panel, I could not pinpoint the Eagle’s voice. While Nicole and Robin debated on the Eagle’s vocal technique. The panel thought the Eagle could be Pauly Shore, Howard Stern, Adam Carolla, or Craig Ferguson.

The Masked Singer studio audience and panel voted unanimously to send the Flower to the competition’s next round. Meanwhile, the Eagle had to wait until the smackdown to redeem himself.  The second battle of the evening was the Penguin (no Danny DeVito, Robin Lord Taylor, or Burgess Meredith’s ghost in sight) versus the Fox.

The Penguin dealt with bullies and was revealed that she could be a comedian or an activist. Tonight, she performed Zedd & Maren Morris’ “The Middle.” I thought that the Penguin could be Kathy Griffin, Sarah Silverman, or Candace Cameron Bure. Nicole loved her confidence and agreed with Robin that she is not a professional singer. The Masked Singer panel guessed that either Kathy Griffin, Sherri Shepherd, Melissa McCarthy, or Raven-Symone were behind the mask.

The Fox was the final performer of the evening. He revealed that he does his best work at night and has two unique personalities. When he performed Maroon 5’s “This Love,” I thought the FOX was either Shawn Stockman or Jeff Timmons. Nicole called the performance, “Effortless,” and Robin called him a professional performer. The Masked Singer panel thought of Wesley Snipes, Leslie Odom Jr, Anthony Mackie or Tyrese Gibson. The face-off winner was the Fox, while the Penguin was up for elimination.

Tonight’s Masked Singer smackdown belonged to two legendary birds: the Eagle and the Penguin. The Eagle sang “These Boots Are Made for Walking” and I immediately picked out either Adam Carolla or Jeff Foxworthy (which the panel guessed near the end of the song). Meanwhile, the Penguin fought back with Fifth Harmony’s “Worth It” and threw some smack back at the Eagle.

The Penguin won the smackdown, and the Eagle was forced to unmask. The panel thought of Howard Stern, Adam Carolla, Craig Ferguson, and Jeff Foxworthy. The Eagle unmasked and it was Dr. Drew Pinsky!

Next week, The Masked Singer: Season Two kicks into a high gear as the remaining celebrities battle it out to remain in the competition!
